Economics not the reason to become U.S. citizenIt's an honor and a privilege that I'm sure his mother wishes he never had.
Americanism is rooted in a democracy that is unique to the United States. Many countries will claim that they are democratic, but the moment citizens burn the flag of those countries, they are carted to jail, if not shot on the spot. Illegal aliens demand their right to citizenship for the sake of keeping their jobs and paychecks that they can never have in their countries. Right there, they lose their argument. If, indeed, American citizenship were about jobs and wages, would these aliens rush for Chinese citizenship if China offers higher wages and better jobs?
There is a basic question on American citizenship that many aliens fail to answer by heart: “Why do you want to become an American citizen?”
The majority of aliens would choose “economic opportunity” as their main reason. The true answer - “because of the freedom and democracy that the United States offer” - seem so profound and hard to grasp that it merely ends as a memorized line than a conviction that will rule their future American lives. The waving of foreign flags while demanding U.S. citizenship during last month's rally is proof to this testament.
Illegal aliens can learn a lesson from Marine Cpl. Jose Angel Garibay, a Mexican immigrant. He was a baby when his parents immigrated to the United States from Jalisco, Mexico, in 1979. Eventually his mom, Simona, became legal, had three kids, divorced, and was able to work in a hospital. Jose was raised in Costa Mesa and assimilated with the American way of life. Obviously appreciating the benefits of American democracy, he enlisted in the military “to defend the country I plan to become a citizen of, “ as he told a teacher.
He never got the chance. On March 23, 2003, Jose was killed in a firefight in Iraq. Not yet a full citizen at that time, Jose was nonetheless ready, and gave up his life to preserve the true values of Americanism. He died for this country because he knew this country gave him the freedom “to be” [Killed.]

I disagree w. last statement of ur blog commentary, qrswave, and it's real instance of an incredible illogic within ur mind.
For how can u really be so sure about a mom who didn't think about consequences of being illegal alien?--here qrswave, u demonstrate GROSS PRESUMPTION.

And it is good question: why in the heck would anyone want to be American citizen?--it's where money is? Hmmm.
There are a number of ironies in this passage.
First, that immigrants should flee from poverty to end up not much better off than they were in their native land. Raising three kids as a divorced immigrant mother is not an easy task.
Second, that the author should think that the mostly hollow privileges that Americans enjoy are "profound." The average person (who isn't brainwashed) would not understand what she's talking about. There isn't a person in the world who doesn't care about their economic condition, at the very least, before all else.
Finally, and perhaps the most ironic, is that the author thinks this young man's tragic and useless death should be a lesson to other immigrants to want the same for themselves.
Thor, I may be presuming that his mother wished she had never come to America. But, I dont think it's a stretch.
Many immigrants feel the same when tragedy strikes and they realize that the few extra economic perks they enjoyed in America was not worth the price that they paid in blood.
You don't even have to be a citizen to die fighting for freedom of whatever the reason given. An interesting sidebar, at the age of 18, you really don't have full adult rights, namely drinking, but you can die. Freedom is wonderful.

hey undeniable, i don't think I'll ever get over your disguise. It's a riot. Albeit, somewhat embarassing for a modest woman like myself.
That said, you're absolutely right freedom is wonderful in America - part and parcel of a host of hollow privileges that the government swears to protect on our behalf, while handing all the Claims, Powers, and Immunities to their banking buddies.
Like, for example, we are free to get rich if we can find a job, free to stay healthy if we can afford to eat right and consult a doctor, free to have a roof over our heads if we can afford to pay for one, and free to start a family if we can make enough money to send children to school.

Granted my opinion is "selfish"--not only meant to be, but inevitable anyway in all actual reason and logic.
"Illogical"?--I don't think so as it is mere realism to observe natural enmity of sinful humanity, acknowledged by all wise-men and sages throughout history, beginning for West at least by Homer, et al.
Hence illegal immigration is invasion of enemy races, and all non-white people are naturally, hence perfectly logically, illegal immigrants.
Answer-solution then to Judeo-oligarchal imperialist tyranny is, at least for significant part, state and local government founded on natural rights, as originally for Americans, original US Constitution fatally abrogated and effectively de-activated by American Civil War.
Naturally then illegal immigration-invasion serves interests of Judeo-oligarchs who use them to intimidate the native people and patriots--as demonstrated by recent Mexican demonstrations, as of 1 May.

I'd say (again) INFORMATIVE, hence quite useful, artistic too. Again, the cause is for objectivity as cultural ideal, this versus the Judaic-subjectivistic (not merely Zionist). Thus I understand thesis-antithesis dialectic.
For it's Judaism, not merely Zionism, which is disease-of-opportunity against a hubristic remnant of empire originally built by heroes perhaps, but now inherited by degenerates unquestionably. Again, Spengler's "Decline of the West" is thematic.
Our people and cause against subjectivism and fraud then need and can use all the "information" they can get, by means of art or otherwise, that's for sure. Journalism is art too, don't forget. Truth first needs honest intention, assuming then an objective reality, right? And if I'm wrong pls by all means correct.

Good argument, that illegal aliens wanted to earn money, they would move to China (town?).
I'll think on this one, but meanwhile, I would say that coming to America is the best option for them - easier to cross a river than an ocean.

I find the lack of logic and the comments associated with this entry to truly be breathtaking.
If I had a choice of living in a Saudi Arabia-like nation, where I would be silenced and wearing a burka, though being wealthy, or suicide, I would choose suicide. That is right, I would rather commit suicide than live a life like that. And I know I am not alone.
Freedom is that important to me. Am I the only one who thinks this? Hardly. There are millions of people across the world who feel the same way.
That doesn't mean that the choice should be freedom and starvation or tyranny and wealth. In an ideal world, we can be both free and prosperous. Actually, the freest nations also tend to be the most prosperous.
But the notion that it all comes down to economics is simply not true. It just happens to be that the freest nations are also the most prosperous - this is not a coincidence.
Why did that particular immigrant move to America? Many reasons, I suspect. And it is tragic that he died. It is also tragic that this nation is changing and becoming less free - the very ideals it was founded on are being compromised. I know I am willing to fight and die to defend the freedoms that America stands for - I just don't see Iraq as "defending the freedom" of America. But that is seperate and distinct from whether or not people are actually willing to die for freedom. Because they are.
Furthermore, the fact remains that America is simply more free than most other nations in the world, even today. It is not "the freest" nation, and it has its faults. But the America you constantly bash does have to be viewed in context of the world community. And freedom does matter. It is not some pie in the sky venture. And the "few economic perks" are also very real. I know you use this blog as your own personal propoganda machine, but you should stop and think about before you write your nonsensical ramblings.
