Greenspan takes another swipe at Medicare
He can't leave bad enough alone. After laying waste to America's economy for 18 years, he has the nerve to take another swipe at what's left of our social safety net, but this time from the stands.
Speaking before the Bond Market Association, Alan Greenspan on Thursday said he is concerned about the increasing costs of Medicare, the Wall Street Journal reports. In his first public appearance since retiring as chair of the Federal Reserve in January, Greenspan said Medicare spending is unsustainable and eventually could cause the federal debt to increase and interest rates to significantly increase.He's right. Medicare is unsustainable, but not for the reasons he professes. Take away the inexcusable monopolies of healthcare insurers and pharmaceutical leaches and problem solved.
Moreover, the only thing that 'causes' interest rates to increase is pure, unmitigated greed.

You're right. Here in Australia we have a government scheme for buying pharmecuticals that keeps the foreign drug company prices at reasonable levels. And then, of course, you in the US have those drug traffickers bringing their hot little med supplies in from Canada. Drug co's argue that high prices are needed to fund research on new drugs. Not true. Mostly they sell "me too" drugs, variants of known prescriptions. Their profits are obscene, only way to decribe it.
Countries everywhere, from France and Germany to Barbados and Cuba all have health care systems at HALF THE PRICE OR BETTER than you guys in the US. Pure greed by your insurance and drug companies. Make it a rule: never vote for any US politician that continues to support or enable the drug companies. Don't buy the spin. Demand a free public health system and cut the drug companies down to size. They're parasites. Get rid of them.

If only there was internet access in every household in the world. Imagine how quickly we could rid ourselves of the disease that these parasites peddle in the name of free markets and democracy.
