There's Something Strange About Virginia Tech

12-21-2009  Christiansburg, VA   A Chinese man who decapitated a fellow graduate student in January on the campus of Virginia Tech University pleaded guilty to charges on Monday, according to court records.

Zhu Haiyang, 26, will be sentenced April 19 for the first-degree murder of Yang Xin, 22. Haiyang is from Ningbo in eastern China. Xin was from Beijing.

According to witnesses, there was no shouting or signs or any argument or disagreement before Zhu murdered Yang with a large kitchen knife on January 21 at the Au Bon Pain restaurant on the campus.  According to reports, when police arrived on the scene they found Zhu holding Yang's head in his hand.

Virginia Tech also gained national spotlight in 2007 when 23-year-old Cho Seung-Hui, from South Korea, shot 32 classmates and teachers before killing himself.
