In the darkness of the mines of west virginia

The men spent their last hours in the cold dark of the mines, without their families beside them.

And, for what? Whose lives did they enrich by their daily sacrifices, by their final sacrifice?

For generations the poor residents of West Virginia have been exploited by monied interests.

The mainstream media crowds around the drama and the tragedy, like vultures they descend.

But, where were they when these men were alive, struggling to make a living?

If not they, then who will ask the questions that need answering?

How much MONEY does it take to buy safety?

How much MONEY is a miner's life worth?

How much MONEY is a banker's?

Where were bankers when MONEY for miner safety was needed?

When will we learn that WE THE PEOPLE are more valuable than their cheap, filthy debased dollars?

When will the death and destruction on behalf of this pyramid stop?

When is enough, ENOUGH?

When will we take our country back?

When I went to bed last night the local and national newswhores were going crazy about the miracle. I couldn't even watch this morning when the media can only cover "one" news story at a time. It wasn't until I saw the Newspaper, and my first instict was to call the newspaper and complain that they had the story wrong. Instead I called the Three local news stations and asked they why they couldn't report that Jack Abramoff was a Bush Pioneer, or that Bush stopped a grand jury investigating Abramoff? They can only report what the AP tells them to report, some free press.

I think the US Corporate Media is a bigger threat to our "Demcocracy, then the Politicos.

For the life of me, I can't understand why Patiotic Americans can't organize a protest in NYC outside the media's glass houses LIVE and say enough is enough?

You know I look at lil pussy's like Billy O'reily and watch him slant his eye's into stern ramps of anger while bitch'n like a well educated spoiled momma's boy. But if you curl up your hand He'd bolt for the door before your fist could raise above your waist.

Like most corporate nerds , I would find the only thing going for them is the ability to talk themselves out of a hole only cause they fear death more than living in a glass bubble of recycled lies.

The coal mining industry isn't the only energy industry to trade the lives of it's workers for the all-mighty dollar. If anyone is interested, check out the history of the uranium enrichment industry. As a former worker, I have watched friends and co-workers die slow agonizing deaths from cancers and other work related diseases, which could have been prevented over the last 30 years if the proper protective equipment had been provided and workers told of the nature of the substances they were working with. Instead, this information and protection was withheld for fear that the Union would demand hazardous duty pay. My husband and I have a number of pre-cancerous conditions and he has thyroid disease and has had skin cancer. He was there for 28 years, I for 14. My heart goes out to anyone whose life has been sacrificed for the sake of corporate or government greed.

Probably cause his heart is cold.

It's too easy to picture these guys attending cult blood rituals.

Guys like Cheney empowerd by seducing spirits that flows through them tongues the very essence of evil. The taunting grins.
The pause and smile that his minds eye turns within to share with his fellow demons.

Thses guys are standing over the button to drop a couple million lives and divide the lines with the help from lubed up lobby firms working targets over that would give ScareFace 7-G shock rollar coaster chills.

The blame falls to the company whose stance from the beginning was to " hope for a miracle" when they damn well knew that the men were allready dead.Their viciuous ploy was spoon fed to the families in a attempt to circumanavigate litigation. It backfired on them. The stupid Govenor fell into the companies evil lair and is going to pay for it with his career. they messed up and didn't know how to fix it and for that they should pay.

It is easy to stop mine deaths...do not work in a mine.

Those miners knew the risk and it was accetable to them.

Nobody forced those men to work in a mine.

Welcome to America where no one is responsible for anything.

Ignorance is always a tragedy.

So your starting to see the downside to capitalism? Just look at what money does to people. Look how many people recently have been arrested for fraud. It's amazing how someone with 147million dollars can be arrested for fraud. I mean come on, you are already wealthy beyond your means, why do you think you need to steal more. That is what capitalism does. It encourages people to exploit the less educated for their own gains, whatever the cost. Look at all the sweat shops in Asia. Look at the immigration problem we have because of that. Here is a quote from Henry Ford that I truly like, but doesn't happen.

"The highest use of capital is not to make more money, but to make money do more for the betterment of life." -Henry Ford

I hate to admit it, but Hitler and the Nazi's used socialism to get the country out of debt and provide jobs for the people. As sick as they were, atleast they cared more for the people of the nation than they did monetary gains.

Yeah, no one forced those men to work in the mine.

And no one forced the men and women in uniform to join the armed forces, right?

Wrong.

Tell ya what. There is no accountability anymore. Do this. If miners die in unsafe mines, give the top corporate executives life in prison for murder. It's their responsibility.

When will we wake up? In my lifetime, I pray.

Just as bush wants the rapture to happen in his.

I was struck by comments made by a young black woman in New Orleans I heard on NPR (which is more dangerous than FOX, but nonetheless these were the words of a girl,) who said that when it was looking like things were going to get bad, she said she thought the family should go and told them so. But the she was reminded that not only did they not have a car, because they couldn't afford one, but they didn't know anybody who had a car, so they were stuck. They all worked together at the convention center, but the city was very expensive to live in, so they were still poor. She said that, they were poor.

Years ago, in San Francisco, I was going to work at my job at a nasty travel agency, and I thought "I can't even pay all my bills and live okay, much less put anything aside for retirement. And at the time, I was making EXACTLY the median income.

I worked 40 hours a week at a job I hated and couldn't make ends meet. I also lived around a lot of homeless people.

I thought, no one should be homeless, no one should work more than 20 hours a week, and everyone should be able to live comfortably and have the money to achieve personal safety in their surroundings. Whether it is in the hurricane belt, tornado alley, South Central LA, on the battlefields of Iraq, or coal mines.

We have to learn, as you rightly point out, that we matter most. Not someone else's money.

Vote for me!!

I know how you feel...I'm a temp mail clerk slave myself. There's another corporate wet dream; permanent temps. I'm going to have to do some robbing peter to pay rent tomorrow; and I'm still lucky because I don't have to go into a hole doing a filthy job, trying to give my kids a better chance.

As for the fool above who made the crack about 'knowing the risks,' they need to shut off their computer, turn the lights off, and appreciate what they would have if people didn't do these nasty jobs.

Someday soon this country is going to have no choice but to go to cleaner energy and a greener lifestyle. I live in a little ancient apartment building in Seattle, and ever since I moved in here I been saying 'we should be growing tomatoes on the roof.' That would be a good use of an under-utilized sunny place, and if we could get the ugly little brick building across the street to grow spinach, boy could we trade out. I can grow green onjuns in a windowbox!

Clinton gave us AmeriCorps, Bush gave us war. Not real hard to do the math.

I appreciate what you are saying...the Invisible in this country are only "remembered" when castastrophe strikes...real working folk in this country are the disenfranchised of our Corportized Glutton of a Government....only when something awful happens are their faces and lives visible, and under this regime it seems like it is every few monthes, yet the Messege gets lost until the Next Event....it is sobering, angering, and sad...

Socialism is most certainly not the answer. Personal responsibility is the answer. Hitler and government are not the answer, we are. People need to stop whining about everything and hoping the government or their bosses will protect them. Do something about it. Protect yourself, grow tomatoes on the roof, stop asking others for the answer. If you let the governent provide answers to problems they created you will end up much worse then you started. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY! get yourselves out of debt, stop depending on the Federal Reserve's fake money to survive.

"When shall it be said in any country of the world, my poor are happy, neither ignorance nor distress is to be found among them; my jails are empty of prisoners, my streets of beggars; the aged are not in want, the taxes not oppressive; the rational world is my friend because I am friend of its happiness. When these things can be said, then may that country boast of its constitution and government."

Meanwhile back at the ranch......
Bush , who has the skill and brains of 5th century executioner , is sharing space with folks who laugh for the camera's all the way to the bank and look forward to a healthy retirement in a tropical paradise somewhere.

America wants the worlds oil supply like the Germans turned a blind eye to world conquest.

The evil lords of things and the evil empire claiming freedom over mountains of bodies. Hey America fuck you. Fuck you and your flag of bullshit freedoms. May God judge and deliver his wrath upon you quickly with storms and quakes and fires and floods. Your heros' are sluts and whores and pimps and gang bang killers. Your leaders are now corrupting our own Canadian government and I pray the line shall be cut before we fall down the hole along with the brain dead X boxers and ego ridden red necks.
