Canadian victims of Israeli aggression
Grieving relatives of a Montreal family killed in an Israeli air strike in Lebanon say the Canadian government must hold Israel responsible for what they call a civilian "massacre.''
As many as nine members of the Al-Akhrass family, all Canadian citizens, were killed in a bombardment Sunday.
"We want justice,'' said Hassan El-Akras, whose father Ali was killed in the village of Aitraroun, 50 kilometres south of Beirut near the Israeli border.* * *
Foreign Affairs informed the family that Hassan's cousin, 36-year-old Ali Al-Akhrass, died in hospital Monday. Family members had not confirmed his death with other relatives in Lebanon and were reluctant to believe the news.
Ali's wife Amira, 23, and their children, Salam 11 months, Saja, eight, Zeinab, six, and Ahmad, four, were killed in the blast Sunday.
"I lost my brother, I lost my sister, my nephew, the family of my nephew, my aunt, my uncle. Oh God,'' said Hussain El-Akras, whose brother was one of the victims.
"I'm frustrated, I'm angry. I can't sleep. I can't eat.''
Relatives say the families had returned to their ancestral home for a summer vacation.
They were forced to take refuge in the basement when an Israeli air raid hit the city. According to reports, the house collapsed after a bomb went off nearby.
"They're innocent,'' said Maysoun Al-Akhrass, sister of Ali Al-Akhrass. "They're Canadians like you who are dead.''
The deaths sparked anger against Israel, which is blamed by surviving family for targeting civilians.
"Everybody blames Hezbollah,'' said Maysoun Al-Akhrass. "Hezbollah is our protector."
"It's they who try to protect my family.''
Al-Akhrass said she spoke to her brother last week after the air raids had begun.
"They couldn't eat, they couldn't drink, they couldn't move," she said.
"I can still hear my brother... completely terrified to see his four children in front of him, his wife, his parents, his uncle and to hear the noise of bombs."
Hassan El-Akras said he wants Ottawa to denounce the escalation by Israel and to better protect Canadians trapped in Lebanon.
El-Akras said he wants to meet with Prime Minister Stephen Harper to ask for an inquiry into the deaths of his family members.
"We want to bring these criminals to justice," he said.
"Israel came to our village and bombed our village," said El-Akras, calling it a `massacre.' "They bombard innocent people and they kill them."
Footage of the home where the family was buried alive and scenes of an injured Lebanese Canadian woman and a Lebanese man pleading with the world for just six hours to escape and save his children's lives. God only knows if they survived.

Waging Peace - advice from former deputy director of central intelligence John McLaughlin
WASHINGTON POST - Lesson No. 1 is that change occurs incrementally and almost imperceptibly in the Middle East, but when it reaches critical mass, the potential for surprise and disaster is enormous. . .
Lesson No. 2 is that the chances of detecting and heading off imminent disaster are enhanced when there is intense, unrelenting and daily attention by a senior and respected U.S. figure who wakes up every morning worrying about nothing else -- the role that Ambassador Dennis Ross played so effectively in the 1990s. . .
Lesson No. 3, related to all of this, is that process matters. . . Without . . . regular and near-continuous negotiation, there are few reference points that all the parties can accept when conflict breaks out. It may not even matter whether perceptible progress is occurring continuously. The important thing is that the table is always set, everyone has a chair and someone is in charge. That has not been the case for some time in the Middle East.
Lesson No. 4 is that even superpowers have to talk to bad guys. The absence of a diplomatic relationship with Iran and the deterioration of the one with Syria -- two countries that bear enormous responsibility for the current crisis -- leave the United States with fewer options and levers than might otherwise have been the case. . .
Lesson No. 5 is that there are no unilateral solutions to today's international problems, not even for superpowers. . .
A few people from Canada... Just think how many "natives" got massacred this way.

Most of the "Canadians" hold dual Lebanese and Canadian citizenship, and really consider themselves to be Lebanese. The term "Canadian" is hence a misnomer.
Might I add that Israel does what it can to limit civilian death. Hezbollah does what it can to increase civilian death. The fact that you don't see that is disgusting.
Good idea, zionitler youth. Eliminating dual-citizenship would go a long way to protecting the homeland, espacially with 600,000 dual Israeli-US citizens living in the US. Dual citizens equals dual loayalties, as you just wrote. The problem is, the occupied territory is the US Congress.
Might I add that Israel does what it can to revel in civilian death. Hezbollah does what it can to defend itself. The fact that you don't see that is disgusting.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> HOLY COW!!! If there was ever a RACIST, you'd fit in the description PERFECTLY. "Nah, it doesn't count, I consider them Lebanese anyways, not human you know!"
Following the racist Zionists ideals and the talmud closely now, aren't we?!!
Die for the elite:
I never once said, nor implied, that dual citizenship should be revoked. But we have to be realistic. If someone spends their whole life in Lebanon, they are Lebanese, not Canadian.
You also cited quotes that camera.org has alreayd directly proven are utter fabrications.
UN Human Rights Body Criticizes US' Supercilious Attitude
The United Nations Human Rights Committee on Friday publicly criticized the US delegation's supercilious attitude when it appeared before a hearing of the committee on US human rights record.
The committee, which oversees implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, is not a "rubber stamp" for any government, Christine Chanet, the chairperson of the committee, told reporters in a briefing.
"The Committee isn't just there to take delivery of a report and note it down like a clerk in a court," said Chanet, adding that the committee's role has been recognized both by the International Court of Justice and the US Supreme Court.
The two-day hearing on America's human rights record was held on Monday and Tuesday, during which the US was obliged to answer a large number of questions on its human rights problems.
But the US delegation, comprising officials from the State Department and other four government agencies, tried to steer clear of sensitive issues related to the "war on terror" detention center in Guantanamo Bay or military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The US delegates initially refused to respond to the questions about Guantanamo and other overseas operations, claiming that international human rights rules did not apply to those issues, as they were outside the US territory.
In the last minute, they submitted answers to those questions, but said the move was out of courtesy.
The committee rejects the US delegation's interpretation of the rules and this difference of opinion will be reflected in the committee's formal conclusions on this hearing, which is to be released later this month, Chanet said.
"You can't deny the role given to us by treaty," she said, adding that the United States is "in a situation of isolation over its unilateral interpretation of international treaty law."
Like all 156 parties who signed and ratified the covenant, the United States is bound to present regular reports to the 18-member committee and appear before hearings of the committee every few years.

So there's a difference between a Canadian and a Lebanese? Really, there is??? The Lebanese are some kind of sub-humans?? *sigh*
"Might I add that Israel does what it can to limit civilian death. Hezbollah does what it can to increase civilian death. The fact that you don't see that is disgusting."
Liar. When Israel bombs the North of Lebanon with absolutely zero Hezbollah presence, is that "limiting civilian death"? When Israel has some of the highest technologies in guiding missiles with extremely high precision, and these missiles miss on a very regular basis, kill innocent people and destroy homes.. Is THAT "limiting civilian deaths"? Israel dropped flyers into Lebanon saying they should leave. BUT WHERE WERE THEY TO GO?! Israel had cut off loads of escape routes and started systematically bombing the place too soon for everyone to get away. Also when Israel kills more than 10 TIMES as much civilians as Hezbollah did, who's trying to increase civilian deaths??
You really live in denial. Seriously.
"I never once said, nor implied, that dual citizenship should be revoked. But we have to be realistic. If someone spends their whole life in Lebanon, they are Lebanese, not Canadian."
Uuuhhhh, they were on holiday. In Lebanon. So that means they were pretty much spending the rest of their lives in Canada.
"they are Lebanese, not Canadian"
No, they are human. Or will you deny that too?
In 1935, Goebbels said: "Many intellectuals are trying to help the Jews with the ancient phrase, 'The Jew is also a man'. Yes, he is a man, but what sort of man? The flea is also an animal!"
So let's try it again, shall we: "PALESTINIANS ARE HUMANS TOO".
disaffected youth: Beware of taking undefensible sides in this war, no one is cheering for hizbullah when they kill civilians(I hope), so you should'nt always try to excuse the israeli army, out of a strange patriotism that would be better served, if true, by joining the IDF in its offensive instead of arguing with people here. Also, beware of the nasty consequences this war is going to have on the international psyche. To quote this excellent Robert Fisk article:
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article14150.htm
"To call decent folk anti-Semites is soon going to make anti-Semitism respectable".
And it's true. I've talked with my family, with my wife's family, and I was surprised how easily these decent people, whom I would never deem racists or violent, would use very harsh terms and describe the mideast problem as, the Jews. And they're not conspiracy theory types, I'm the one surfing the margins on the web, and I'm the one who needs to moderate conversations when they get scary. Yesterday we were talking about the news that the US was hurriedly shipping bombs to Israel, my sister-in-law, a doctor, said 'It does'nt surprise me, New York is controlled by the Jews. A frigging doctor, she studied in the US, in NY city for a year. But I am troubled by the oversimplification of the conflict, which is a natural response to the medias trying to oversimplify it for the other side (Israel has a right to defend itself, civilians are hiding the terrorists, the IDF is using 'surgical' strikes ect ect). I don't like racism, it makes me uncomfortable, like an intellectual shortcut. I always want to peel the onion to the core, not stop at the top layers because it makes me cry.
This is'nt a football match. We can agree to facts without being ashamed. Terrorism and bombing raids are the same thing. Let's stop with this pretense of 'no moral equivalency', and admit that a shaky new government jumped the gun and took the bait of a cynical resistance movement, and now because of various lobbying efforts, geopolitical reasons and financial aspects, no western government is really making an effort to halt the bloodshed.
sphinx:
I am not the one who made a big deal out of the fact that these people are Canadian. That was qrswave.
I do not see the relevance as to whether they are Canadian or not, and as a matter of FACT, most of the "Canadians" in Lebanon have dual citizenship and consider themselves Lebanese, not Canadian.
That doesn't mean that they are lesser human beings. I never said that, nor implied that.
It was qrswave that implied these people are somehow special or even "better" because they are Canadian.

I would welcome you to Culture For All. You clearly are different from the rest of the commentators on this board, in that you think. I welcome your opinions.

"It was qrswave that implied these people are somehow special or even "better" because they are Canadian."
No she didn't. The thing is, the western world apparently doesn't give a damn about Lebanese casualities, because "poor little scared Israel" has every right to defend itself. But this is to show that Israel cares about no human lives except its own. They won't stop at hurting anybody from any nation to achieve their goal. They'll even barely let the UN in for humanitary help:

And read the WHOLE article. But I trust you to keep on pointing out what corresponds to your opinion, and somehow "missing out" the rest.

You are obviously drowning in your own shit to come up with that statement.
Anonymous: Welcome to the world of disaffected youth's ingenious statements :-)
Disinfected jew youth brain is actually fermented cow manure.
But kosher of course, according to ancient talmudic laws.
Disinfected Youth is a Kapo who wants to paint all Jews with a neo-Nazi brush. Disgusting. Just because they were the only party to actively collaborate with Hitler to kill orthodox Jews who refused to emigrate to Palestine from occupied Europe doesn't make them a legitimate movement. It makes them the progeny of Kapos.
Not once does this person justify Israel's actions on the Torah. Why? Because there is no justification for these actions in the Torah. Canaan was given to Israel only on condition that Israel follow G-d's laws. Coveting your neighbor's land, killing him to get it and bearing false witness against the survivors is in no way carrying out the 10 commandments.
DISINFECTED YOUTH- WHY DON'T YOU GO INFECT A ZIONIST BLOG WHERE AT LEAST YOU WILL HAVE SOME COMPANY?
'everone blames Hizbollah'
well, they do so because people have been led to believe Hizbollah started this. As your site has posted, and Mike Rivero has also documented:
http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/israeli_solders.html
Earliet reports say the 2 israeli soldiers were captured (not kidnapped) INSIDE Lebanon, at Aita Al-Shaab not in israel.
I suggest that its very necessry that this story reach the wider public.
Ive aleady sent letters to various journalists /bloggers with this info (such as at Riveros site), and i recommend others do as well

Good point -
But -
Didn't the first great King David covet his neighbours wife? (and try to pass his bastard by her off on her husband Uriah, but since Uriah wouldn't do the dirty deed but preferred to be honourable and go to battle with his men rather than tarry with his wife and so cover the adultery, David had him killed by friendly fire instead so he could do the decent thing and marry her) And Gods punishment to him for this? the death of the innocent child
'And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again?' Very repentant you see.
and as for not coveting thy neighbours land - heres this from only a bit later in the text
'And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.
And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight whereof was a talent of gold with the precious stones: and it was set on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance. And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brick-kiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.'
So all who say it may not be condoned by the 10 commandments may be right - But - the doing of this stuff leads to the glorying and rewarding of the doers according to that particular religious book and its greatest kings story is a proof of that.
Mac
In case you didn't bother to keep reading the Bible, David eventually was cursed for his sins, as were his people later on for their apostasy. Every time they stopped following G-d's laws, they were punished by G-d himself. The Babylonian captivity, the conquest by Alexander, then rome, then the Diaspora were all judgements G-d gave to the Hebrews for disobedience.
ALL FUCKING SAND NIGGERS MUST FUCKING HANG.

The Hezbollah must go, even at "civilian" expense. You lie when you say Hezbollah did not fire first. I have been in Israel more times than I can count. I have seen the katushas fall all these years. In 1992, Ms. CNN herself, Christian Amonpur interviewed me after such an attack on Kiryat Shmona. Enough is enough. I have seen what some Egyptians do to their Coptic population (The original Egyptians not Turkish Dogs) The Arab nations must learn to share this world with non-muslims. They do not have a monopoly on G-d. They want to fight to the death. Those who enable the terrorist to do their dirty work, or those how merely look away are just as guilty.
Innocent Germans civilians died at Dresden too.
Stop falling for the media's cult of victimology. Israel fights fair, Hezbollah fights dirty both on the field and with the Lebanese people.
War is war and there can be one winner.
a magnus said: in case you didn't bother to keep reading the Bible, David eventually was cursed for his sins...
Ah, yes I did read it (right through to the bitter end! and very boring most of it was too) You seem to have missed my point though, no doubt I was too subtle. It's all very well your talking of David etc. sowing some vague post-dated, collective, retributive punishment for the coming generations to harvest because of what he/they do - the fact is neither David then or Olmert now cares about that - so they will do what they wish with free reign, so long as they have the power to do it. And not a thunderbolt from God in sight. On the contrary God seems to smile on their endeavours. He's smiling now - or is he laughing at the Lebanese plight? So like David, they feel little repentance.
And just to clarify, the 'they' I mean isn't Jews or even Zionists, but rulers in power - any race or persuasion equally applicable - the ones who behave in this way. I should make clear I am a follower of no religion (and certainly no believer in the bible accounts as being fact and prefer history and anthropology and the history of religion separated and religion itself separated from political debate) so therefore feel that using any religious book as proof for or against behaviours or the 'divine' punishment for those behaviours is unhelpful; not being a religious person, you see, I disapprove of collective punishments from man or god.
