why democracies don't work

This political ad against Republican congressman Gil Gutknecht is a potent reminder that democracies that are based on different interest groups vying for power invariably short-change those interests least able to fight for themselves.

THAT is why this country was NOT founded as a Democracy, but instead as a Republic - based on Constitutional principles and a Bill of Rights for its people - NOT its corporations.

The cold hard TRUTH is that Democracies only 'work' for those with power.

That's how I see it too! We are a constitutional republic, NOT a goddamned democracy.

I like to study things like the origins of folklore. If you're going to look at Christianity that way, its message seems to be "don't make it hard for good people to come into your life." That would include your rulers.

To my line of thinking on this topic, what happens if you make child pimps/pornographers filthy rich? Think about that job and what you'd have to do to innocent children to do it. Now imagine that so-called person gaining control of the company you work for through money laundering. Think of the conscienceless decisions they'll easily make for you and your community. Does that sound even vaguely familiar?

I think that anything that would bring such an outrageous monster to a position of prominence could easily be termed a sin. That's where I believe this folklore was coming from.
