I cannot strongly recommend renting the video "The Fog of War". It's one of the best documentary films I saw. May make a good double showing with 1974 documentary "Hearts and Minds".
"The Fog of War" alone should indict Robert McNamara as one of the main conspirators in war crimes. No apology will absolve the atrocities unleashed on Vietnam that cost millions of lives perceived as "inferior,""yellow" and "gook/dink" to conquer under the military supremacist/racist American war machine. Over 50,000 American GIs perished for the foreign policy & intervention bullshit started by French colonialists, the CIA and the military-industrial complex in collusion with LBJ that perpetrated Gulf of Tonkin hoax.
Henry Kissinger, the other war criminal that define the word "amoral," should be next in line to suffer the shuffling of mortal coil. Ditto David Rockefeller and other demented ancient fossils of New World Order.

A note. Robert McNamara has blood in USS Liberty attack as Secretary of State. He "recalled" U.S. military operation (fighter jets and ships) intended to rescue USS Liberty. He helped cover up USS Liberty attack to kiss Israel's ass.
Bob and LBJ are traitorous filth who deserve having their graves open for urinal by patriots and veterans who had been used as pawns. If there is justice, Henry Kissinger should have been hung by now.
My favorite lesson that McNamara learnt from the Vietnam war (from "The Fog of War") was :
"There is something beyond the self"
Too bad for Vietnam that he didn't have those kind of smarts prior to the conflict.
... and Kissinger can't shuffle off the planet soon enough.
