SLC's Mayor blasts Bush for lying about Iraq
Before throngs of supporters yesterday, Salt Lake City's Mayor Rocky Anderson lambasted Bush and his entire administration over Bush's most recent admission that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and other assorted lies that were fed to Americans to drive our nation into war.
We are here to say:This guy's pretty good!
We will not stand for it anymore.
No more lies.
No more pre-emptive illegal war based on false information.
No more God is on our side religious nonsense to justify this immoral, illegal war.
* * *
No more lies.
No more hiding of the truth.
We can stand the truth.
No more wars that more than triple the value of stock of Dick Cheney's prior employer Halliburton . . .
* * *
We are patriots.
We are deeply concerned.
And we demand change now.
No more gross incompetence in the office of Secretary of Defense.
No more torture of human beings.
No more disregard of the basic human rights enshrined in the geneva conventions.
* * *
We won't let down.
We won't be quiet.
We will continue to resist the lies, the deceptions, the outrages of this Bush administration and of this complacent, complicit, go along Congress.
And we will insist that peace be pursued and that as a nation we help those in need.
We must break the cycle of hatred, of intolerance, of exploitation.
We must pursue peace as vigorously as the Bush administration has pursued war.
This administration and anyone who was stupid or venal enough to support this war is going down the trash bin of history - where they belong.
This marks the beginning of the end for Bush and his cronies.

I appreciate this man's deep passion for our country and I applaud his effort to stand up against the criminal policies of the Bush Regime. For atleast the last 5 years, many of us have felt the same way as Mayor Rocky Anderson but our voices were not strong enough to be heard....there is a change coming, and you can feel it, more than a third of Americans believe that our Government was complicit in the 9/11 attacks, more than 2/3 of our populations does not agree with the way the Bush Regime is handling the Iraq War, and many of us also believe that Bush's criminal lies should lead to his impeachment.
However, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Bush will not be impeached, new wars will be started, and the body counts will continue to pile up. The neocons have been planning for this moment for the last three decades, and public opinion will not be able to stand in the way of their grand plan. For the most part, since 9/11, the Government has controlled public opinion through the use of their mainstream media propaganda channels. The Internet is the single most important reason why the truthseekers have succeeded in making information available. This regime knows that something else must be done, 9/11 was only the beginning, and its fear-tactic effects are wearing off, Americans are waking up from their daze....liquid explosives, and "fascists" are not enough to force the American Population to further relenquish their freedoms... American Citizens and their Criminal Government are headed for a violent collision, there is no question about it. An event so diabolically intense, that Americans will once again trade in their freedom for security, will once again decide that the killing of innocent muslims is in the best interests of our country, and will once again fall deeper into a realm of enslavement. There is way too much riding on this right now, there is absolutely no way that this current regime will abandon their plans now....they stole the 2000 election, they killed over 3,000 Americans in the 9/11 attacks, have murdered and raped thousands of Muslims across the middle east and have plundered those countries for their valuable natural resources....and its not over.
I am sorry, but for these reasons, I really cannot be too optimistic.
Amaan,
I soooo agree wtih you, a change will come and evil will be defeated but not for now. The neocons are too powerful and will not let the general public or the weak prevail cause they have waited for this destruction of the world and their domination of the world for too long and ain't gonna let it go soo easily. So yes, totally agree that eventhough people are waking up, it will take some time before all this killing and destruction stops, so unfortunate for us (the citizens of the world).
I watched the Venezuela coup doco today (google vid "the revolution will not be televised"). Made me cry, warmed my heart, made me realise how patheticly weak and gutless these power elite really are. But Venezuela is merely an outpost after all, and the US is a host to the mother of all power elites. But right now they must know that they've already lost. 30% is too too much! All that's left for them to decide is how ugly it gets before they live in shame for the rest of history.
"know what time it is"....I had to chuckle a little at that cinematic punchline...either way, you have made your point, well said, I concur.
