Palestinians scour for food in garbage dumps

Rejoice, America. While Israelis live 'high on the hog' on our tax dollars, Palestinians are forced to look for scraps of food in the garbage.
The Israeli military and economic siege of Gaza has led to a collapse in Palestinian living conditions and many people only survive by looking for scraps of food in rubbish dumps, say international aid agencies.

"The pressure and tactics have not resulted in a desire for compromise," Karen Abuzayd, the head of the UN Relief and Works Agency is said to have warned. "But rather they have created mass despair, anger and a sense of hopelessness and abandonment."
That's putting it mildly. How would you feel if, thanks to Israeli lust for land, you had to look for food in the garbage?
Israel closed the entry and exit points into the Gaza Strip, home to 1.5 million Palestinians, on 25 June and has conducted frequent raids and bombings that have killed 262 people and wounded 1,200. The crisis in Gaza has been largely ignored by the rest of the world, which has been absorbed by the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon.

"Women in Gaza tell me they are eating only one meal a day, bread with tomatoes or cheap vegetables," said Kirstie Campbell of the UN's World Food Programme, which is feeding 235,000 people. She added that in June, since when the crisis has worsened, some 70 per cent of people in Gaza could not meet their family's food needs. "People are raiding garbage dumps," she said.
At that rate, these women will be severely malnourished within a few weeks and no Palestinian woman could sustain a pregnancy on this diet. Coincidence? I don't think so.
Not only do Palestinians in Gaza get little to eat but what food they have is eaten cold [uncooked] because of the lack of electricity and money to pay for fuel. The Gaza power plant was destroyed by an Israeli air strike in June. In one month alone 4 per cent of Gaza's agricultural land was destroyed by Israeli bulldozers.
And this is supposed to be in self defense? LIARS.
The total closure imposed by Israel, supplemented by deadly raids, has led to the collapse of the Gazan economy. The 35,000 fishermen cannot fish because Israeli gunboats will fire on them if they go more than a few hundred yards from the shore. At the same time the international boycott of the Hamas government means that there is no foreign aid to pay Palestinian government employees. The government used to have a monthly budget of $180-200m, half of which went to pay 165,000 public sector workers. But it now has only $25m a month.

It is possible for foreign journalists to visit Gaza but it is a laborious process passing through the main Israeli checkpoint at Erez and then walking down a long concrete tunnel. The kidnapping of two Fox television employees by criminals - though they were later released - has also dissuaded several TV companies from covering the crisis.
Oh really? Cui Bono?
The total closure imposed by Israel dates from the seizure of Cpl Gilad Shalit by Palestinian militants on 25 June. Between then and the end of August, Israeli security forces killed 226 Palestinians, 54 of them minors, in the Gaza Strip, according to the Israeli human rights organisation B'Tselem. Of these it says that 114 were taking no part in any hostilities.
Those are impressive numbers. Israeli plans are coming along nicely.

To my Arab brothers: The War with Israel Is Over — and they won. Now let's finally move forward

By Youssef M. Ibrahim

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com | With Israel entering its fourth week of an incursion into the same Gaza Strip it voluntarily evacuated a few months ago, a sense of reality among Arabs is spreading through commentary by Arab pundits, letters to the editor, and political talk shows on Arabic-language TV networks. The new views are stunning both in their maturity and in their realism. The best way I can think of to convey them is in the form of a letter to the Palestinian Arabs from their Arab friends:

Dear Palestinian Arab brethren:

The war with Israel is over.

You have lost. Surrender and negotiate to secure a future for your children.

We, your Arab brothers, may say until we are blue in the face that we stand by you, but the wise among you and most of us know that we are moving on, away from the tired old idea of the Palestinian Arab cause and the "eternal struggle" with Israel.

Dear friends, you and your leaders have wasted three generations trying to fight for Palestine, but the truth is the Palestine you could have had in 1948 is much bigger than the one you could have had in 1967, which in turn is much bigger than what you may have to settle for now or in another 10 years. Struggle means less land and more misery and utter loneliness.

At the moment, brothers, you would be lucky to secure a semblance of a state in that Gaza Strip into which you have all crowded, and a small part of the West Bank of the Jordan. It isn't going to get better. Time is running out even for this much land, so here are some facts, figures, and sound advice, friends.

You hold keys, which you drag out for television interviews, to houses that do not exist or are inhabited by Israelis who have no intention of leaving Jaffa, Haifa, Tel Aviv, or West Jerusalem. You shoot old guns at modern Israeli tanks and American-made fighter jets, doing virtually no harm to Israel while bringing the wrath of its mighty army down upon you. You fire ridiculously inept Kassam rockets that cause little destruction and delude yourselves into thinking this is a war of liberation. Your government, your social institutions, your schools, and your economy are all in ruins.

Your young people are growing up illiterate, ill, and bent on rites of death and suicide, while you, in effect, are living on the kindness of foreigners, including America and the United Nations. Every day your officials must beg for your daily bread, dependent on relief trucks that carry food and medicine into the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, while your criminal Muslim fundamentalist Hamas government continues to fan the flames of a war it can neither fight nor hope to win.

In other words, brothers, you are down, out, and alone in a burnt-out landscape that is shrinking by the day.

What kind of struggle is this? Is it worth waging at all? More important, what kind of miserable future does it portend for your children, the fourth or fifth generation of the Arab world's have-nots?

We, your Arab brothers, have moved on.

Those of us who have oil money are busy accumulating wealth and building housing, luxury developments, state-of-the-art universities and schools, and new highways and byways. Those of us who share borders with Israel, such as Egypt and Jordan, have signed a peace treaty with it and are not going to war for you any time soon. Those of us who are far away, in places like North Africa and Iraq, frankly could not care less about what happens to you.

Only Syria continues to feed your fantasies that someday it will join you in liberating Palestine, even though a huge chunk of its territory, the entire Golan Heights, was taken by Israel in 1967 and annexed. The Syrians, my friends, will gladly fight down to the last Palestinian Arab.

Before you got stuck with this Hamas crowd, another cheating, conniving, leader of yours, Yasser Arafat, sold you a rotten bill of goods — more pain, greater corruption, and millions stolen by his relatives — while your children played in the sewers of Gaza.

The war is over. Why not let a new future begin?

Hey, do you guys really wanna feed palestine?

Instead of venting your homocidal hatred of jews, getting your asses kicked for it and then blaming it all on them... why don't you head on over to france, kick that fat bloodsucking bitch, Sufi Arafat outta her big ass mansion onto her big ass and take all the money her disease ridden maggot husband stole (estimated to be over 3 billion) and give it to the palestinians?

Or does that plan not include killing enough jews for you?

They said the same thing about us kike-lovers back in '42.

Call me in another 60 years and we'll see if you were right.

...ok, y'all can stop celebrating now.

This is the fat bloodsucking bitch I was referring to:

Her name is Suha, not Sufi.

Aside from that... yikes! Now wonder Arafat kept her away in another country.

I couldn't believe the figure Isaw, something like 99 billion dollors, we've given to Isreal since the late 40's.

It is infuriating that Israel commits this genocide while the world sits back and feels sorry for them. I think there are too many people who don't even know this is happening.

Thanks again for this blog. My cousin came here from Lebanon with her kids to stay with me. She wants to go home but is afriad to put her kids in school there because the schools are TARGETS! Hear that folks. Israel targets children on purpose. That is the truth. The people in Gaza and many Lebanese can't get out. They don't even have her options. She only has to deal with rage and homesickness. They have to deal with starvation and contant terror and people like SOT encourage this and thinks it's fabulous. It seems so evil. I just feel sick about it. The hundreds of beautful children who have been slaughtered so Israelis can steal water and strip land.

I ended up in a converstation at a bookstore last night with two Christian Americans in their 70s. They wanted to know why the Arabs were always terrorizing Israel and why they couldn;t just let them live in peace. They were totally oblivious to the existence of the people in Gaza and their oppression. I explained it to them and also explained why they didn;t know about it. They were horrified and angry and seemed open to learning more about the people in Gaza and how they had been fooled about what Israel is really up to.

I felt good. I think I made a difference. It's only two people but if they tell two friends and they tell two friends. I think I'll get into more conversations like this.

SOT is actually getting comical now. He sounds like a raving oblivious lunatic.

We should educate as many people as posisble about the lies they have been told about Israel and how they are made to fear and hate Arabs because of Israeli propaganda. I think this will make a difference.

The Israeli supporters in North America are directly responsible for this genocide.

So, by that causative effect, were I to track down SOT and kill him and his kin on the pretext that he 'asked for it' and 'he had it coming', what would I be then? I will never even think about it - but there is a whole generation of Muslims and Arabs in the world who are saying to the West for quite some time now - 'you have it coming'.

Either there is rule of law and justice, or not the rule of law. The girl who is wearing a miniskirt and is raped 'had it coming' and the rich man who flaunts his wealth and was robbed and killed 'had it coming'.

Your logic and the feebleness of your mind are appalling.

Perfect Law and Order - or Genocide. Is that the rule of law?

Since a US trooper was killed New York State, cordon off upstate new york, stop food supplies, and bulldoze the homes of all those who gave the fugitive refuge.

Wow - what rationality.

The Israeli apartheid (security) wall around Palestinian population centers in the West Bank, and wraps itself like a Python around the Palestinian people choking out their life and lands.

A full map of the Ariel Sharon land grab wall.

It speaks for itself.

The MSM is so full of it and so is idiot America. People who are being starved by terrorists in power have a right to fight for food. They do not have to sit around while the Isreali government or the pigs in New Orleans try to starve them. If a government chooses to starve people based on race they deserve to be taken out, including violently.
