Iran declares WAR on History
"It is a strange world. It is possible to discuss everything except the Holocaust," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters. "The Foreign Ministry plans to hold a conference on the scientific aspect of the issue to discuss and review its repercussions."
Iran, whose president has denied the Holocaust, said Sunday it would hold a conference to examine the scientific evidence concerning Nazi Germany's extermination of 6 million Jews.
Asefi did not say where or when the conference would be held or who would attend.
On Saturday, Ahmadinejad urged the West to be open-minded enough to allow a free international debate on the real aspects of the Holocaust.
Rep. Tom Lantos, D-Calif., has said he understood Iran was considering a conference to call into question the evidence that the Nazis conducted a mass murder of European Jews during World War Two.
Oh man, Iran is really pushing the envelope.
How dare they question HISTORY as it's been passed down to us from the all knowing, all seeing media?

It is illogical and inhumane to hate a person for no reason other than the color of their skin, their national origin, or the faith that they share with others.

Iran fell into the trap. If they even discuss the Holocaust the entire country will be thrown into jail with David Irving, Zeundel, and all the others people that dispute the numbers.
There is one country whose economy the oil embargo won't ruin. (Hint- that country gets its oil via a short pipeline direct from Iran.) Any increase in the price of oil won't bother them anyway because I suspect free plus fifty percent is still free.
Morpheus, read a book and watch fewer movies. The Germans (I think you mean Nazis) didn't attempt to wipe Jews off the Earth (they mostly put them to work in slave labor camps) and that's what Iran's president is talking about. What other historical event has seen laws passed to prevent contraty views from being discussed?
And the German-run concentration camps saw only a fraction of the casualties of the war, so why would this one event be elevated above all of the other, more statistically significant deaths?
There is no evidence to support the number of six million deaths due to incineration, and even accounting for typhus and other diseases doesn't help much.

The Holocaust has certainly been exaggerated and its victim count inflated as part of the PR process to justify Israel. That said putting 6 million people in concentration camps is still a horrible reprehensible act that can never happen again. The Iranian pres. best point was, hey if it was the Europeans who did this, give them land in Europe! Hard to argue with that.

The real Holocaust was the mass extermination of tens of millions of German civilians by the USA and Britain by carpet fire bombing dense residential areas during WWII. Everyone knows this carpet fire bombing was done, but no one thinks about the details. If you carpet fire bomb six story apartment buildings, it is to slaughter civilians, not to strike a military target. This was also in grotesque violation of the Geneva Convention and the worse example of barbarism the world has ever seen. I don't know whether all Jews are Zionists or not. About half the Jews I've known in my life seem like ordinary people. I have a Ph.D. in History and have taught the Holocaust on several occasions. Only recently have I had time to investigate the claims of the so-called Holocaust 'deniers.' I was shocked to discover that the Holocaust revisionists have won the argument. There was no Nazi campaign to systematically exterminate the Jewish people.
How did this happen? The problem is that most historians don't look into the primary sources. To me regret, taught the subject wholly on the basis of secondary works. The reason is that there are very few documents pertaining to the 'Holocaust' that would qualify as 'primary sources' - and those that are available are never examined for their authenticity. That's simply taken for granted.
In short, the norms of historiography do not apply to the Holocaust. And historians are probably terrified of the potential consequences to their careers of examining the sources pertaining to the Holocaust with the same degree of scrutiny they would apply to documents pertaining to other events.
So Iran is definitely doing the right thing on this matter.

Some of the raging, prejudicial posts here have just taught me something important. Though I never before understood why the Jews obsess over the Holocaust, I do now. It's because it's the only one so many people want to do over.
Nobody seriously talks about exterminating Native Americans or enslaving African Americans. Those holocausts are over with. The title is designed to be descriptive, provocative and ironic.
It is descriptive of the belligerent responses to any "unorthodox" discussion of the Holocaust. It is provocative since no one takes WAR lightly. And, it is patently absurd since you cannot "declare WAR history."
History is a social science where events of the past are researched, discovered, and documented. Some accept, on faith, the documented research and discoveries of those before them. Others choose to embark on their own journey to uncover the past.
As such, the task is never 'a done deal.' While many or all people may agree on one perspective. No one can, or should, be forced to believe the research of another.
What would we do if visitors from Mars were to inquire about the Holocaust? Would you force them to believe one documentation over another? Or would you let them decide for themselves which is the more credible of them all?
Or take, for example, high profile crimes where a defendant is aquitted. Can anyone force people to believe that the defendant didn't do it? Or, might he still be guilty in the court of public opinion?
This post has nothing to do with what happened during that war. I am not a historian and I DON'T KNOW what happened. This is NOT my point.
This post is about the freedom to inquire, the freedom to express yourself, and the freedom to believe what you want.
Justice Oliver Wendall Holmes once said that "the best test of truth is the power of the thought to get itself accepted in the competition of the market."
I can see how those who passionately believe that it transpired one way would consider as ignorant, illogical, or even downright mean, those who deny that it did.
But, I fail to understand how refusing to believe one perspective of history can possibly be considered "an act of aggression" against jews, or anyone, for that matter.

I don't see any facts, logic, or argument here, just the rantings of a bitter, paranoid, hate-filled man. I suspect that this is someone for whom the vicissitudes of life have obviouisly proven too much to handle, and he has clearly become broken. Hatred of Jews, blaming them for some great history spanning conspiracy, offers him a scapegoat for whatever failures, misfortunes, and unfairness he has been wounded by.
The desire to simplify history, to reduce world events to one great, all encompassing narrative, has a powerful appeal, especially because the real world is much greyer and more complicated. Apollonian's "universal narrative" is: there is a war between good and evil, the Christians are good, the Jews are evil, and this explains all major historical events in the past 2000 years.
If you like those "facts" and you buy into that "logic", you are what is called a fanatic, and there is little in the way of facts, logic, and argument that can reach you.
As for Ahmadinejad's co called "Holocaust conference", there is obviously no way to expect impartiality in this matter from him, as tension between middle-eastern Israelis and Iranians is far too hot.
Another point is that Ahmadinejad doesn't appear to be entirely serious in his Holocaust denial himself. Previously, he stated that because Europeans did the Holocaust, Jews should have a homeland in Europe, not Palastine. Why should Palastinians pay the price for the holocaust, he asks? It seems his remark in regard to a "Holocaust conference" was therefore meant primarily to anger and bait the Israelis and Jews, no more. I suspect there will be no "Holocaust conference", bombs on Iran or no.
As for for the "New Testament Conspiracy Theory Template" being born out, well, if you believe that what you need is not trolling on the Web, but a good psycho-parmacologist.

Why then were Kremas 2 and 3 put in plain sight of all sectors of the Birkenau camp, with no camouflage of any kind? Majdaneks main door into the gas chamber 1 has no locks. It can be opened from either the inside or the outside. There are no holes or fittings where a lock might have been. What stopped the inmates from opening this door?
Gas chamber 1 has a plate glass window in it. There are no holes or fittings around the window where bars or any other kind of cover might once have been. Since the plaster around the window is covered with blue stains, we know that it is the plaster that existed during the time Zyklon B gas was used in this room. If there WERE bars or any other type of cover attached to this window, why are there no traces? What would have stopped the inmates from trying to climb out the window, or breaking the window and causing a gas leak?
There is a room INSIDE gas chamber 1. Why would there be a separate room INSIDE a gas chamber? Doesn't this room indicate that gas chamber 1 was used for something OTHER than killing people?
The ceilings in chambers 2 and 4 are low enough so that the Zyklon B induction holes could have been blocked by the victims. What would have stopped the inmates from blocking the holes?
The doors to chambers 2,3 and 4 are built to latch from the outside AND the inside. The latches can be opened from either side. Does this suggest that the rooms were used for something other than killing people?

Let's assume for argument's sake that the facts that you assert are accurate. I am not in a position to discuss facts of which I have no knowledge. I am just trying to understand your condemnation of entire peoples.
How do you reconcile your conclusion that all Jews are the same (and to blame) for the conduct of some people who call themselves Jewish, and your insistence that White "Goyim" are somehow not to blame for the crimes that you concede other White "Goyim" commit against their own people.
And, while I agree that subjectivism is an abominable approach to life; how do you explain why not all Jews are subjectivists and why some Christians and people of other faiths are?
Finally, when someone claims to be Jewish, Christian, or Muslim, do you take their word for it, or do you judge them by their deeds?

Why don't you just admit that you don't know whether I'm a Jew, Gentile, or Muslim; Black, White, or Hispanic. You simply can't tell unless I tell you or you know me. You can't even tell whether I'm a man or a woman.
I am not deceiving myself or deceiving anyone else. I'm just illustrating my point. I'm not saying that most people don't naturally prefer their own race over another, when it comes to marrying and/or pro-creating. I don't think there's anything especially wrong with that - it's not mean, it's just a preference. I simply question the validity of claims that one race or faith is better or worse than another. That attitude is arrogant and unhelpful, to say the least.
BTW, I agree entirely that the characters you describe as subjectivists (who twist every truth and attempt to commodify everything) are a scourge on humanity and must be stopped from forcing their false beliefs on the rest of us. I am a former NYC teacher - I've come to realize that "the Holocaust" is not just a topic which should be idly debated, but something that is really relevant to how we've been forced into tax-slavery to Israel, and the destructive Jewish influence in our media, government, foreign policy, and immigration laws.
The Holocaust is the sword and the shield of Jewish power. Hopefully, Iran's conference will be intellectually rigorous and fair. When it falls, and it will, the absence will we felt in a variety of ways - good ways.
