OBL Releases New Hit Single: "You can't catch me!"
Don't you find it odd that the media seems to have endless access to new audio and video tapes of this guy thumbing his nose at the world, but that the US government can't manage to catch him? What makes him so elusive? Could it be that he's DEAD?
Let's say, for argument's sake that he's still alive. Isn't it odd that the US government would not raise the "national terror threat level" beyond its current yellow, despite renewed threats on OBL's new tape and despite warnings from experts that "Bin Laden's threats should be taken very seriously"?
Do they know something that we don't know?
Isn't it equally odd that Richard Clarke, "a former White House security adviser who is now an ABC News consultant" would think it "unusual . . . for [OBL] to say something and not be able to back it up in some way?"
I wonder how Richard Clarke would respond if asked whether he thought it was "unusual" for George Bush to say something that he could not "back up in some way?"

Your guess is as good as mine.
But clearly, something is wrong with this picture.
Maybe it's preparing the sheople for a campaign of terror to take their minds off all the dirt that is surfacing at the moment.
Back it up with a wmd attack somewhere unimportant and they will all fall into line.
This carerrorist production has been brought to you by he enemy of the Party, Emmanuel Goldstein.
hey all,
two things came to mind due to this post and q's comment on mine re same:
1) reading the text is like reading a devil's advocate defense of "staying the course"
2) re the unusual: this is the first time I remember seeing a "full" transcript of an OBL memo (anyone know otherwise please correct me). All previous comm's by OBL have been vetted, edited, Godknows what, not this one. it's coming thru loud an clear, no background noise no nothing… hmmm

MAMOUN FANDY: Right, but this particular tape is not terribly inspiring, just looking at the language of it. This is the first tape of bin Laden that has no single verse from the Koran. It does not have the flowery language of Arabic.
It seems to me that it is written in English first, and then translated into Arabic. It is very western style of tape. It is not very characteristic of bin Laden, at least it tells me that the non-Arabic speaking within the al-Qaida network are taking over the organization --
JIM LEHRER: You mean he didn't write this is what you are suggesting?
Hey byr, nice catch! It does read like either he has a PR firm working for him, or his producers hired people to write the script.
It's like watching a re-run of a third-rate sitcom.
jc, that would explain why it's not edited; it's a work for hire.
david, you'd think they would come up with something original.
digital, I suspect that they have other, more spectacular, things up their sleeves.
